At Jakšić Gallery, we present new sculptures by our painter and artist, Dr. art. Dina Jakšić Pavasović. These are small-scale sculptures—intimate, authorial works that represent only a part of a broader body of work available in our galleries. Here we present a selected overview, as an introduction to a wider range of sculptures that can be viewed in our gallery spaces in Split and on the island of Brač.
Although painting is her first and fundamental artistic discipline, Dina has for several years been intensively developing her own sculptural expression in stone. Living and working in an environment defined by white Brač stone has strongly influenced her artistic development. Stone is a material that carries durability, structure, and the memory of place, which is precisely why the artist uses it as a bearer of a contemporary and personal visual language.
The process of creating these sculptures begins in our workshop, where stone blocks are cut into thin slabs. Dina then reassembles the stone elements using a bonding technique, adding pigment directly into the adhesive. Once the form is fully constructed, further interventions in the stone follow. The artist incises, shapes, and emphasises lines on the surface, creating distinctive drawings in stone that become an integral part of the sculptural whole.
The sculptures are conceived as compact stone volumes, with front and side surfaces acting as active fields for drawing and colour. Lines move freely across the stone surface, creating rhythm and layered compositions that change depending on the viewing angle. Colour is subtle yet present. It highlights relationships within the form while always remaining in balance with the material.
These works are not conceived as monumental sculptures, but as carefully considered small-format art objects. They integrate easily into contemporary interiors while maintaining a strong authorial character. Each piece invites close engagement with the material and encourages slower, more attentive viewing.
The sculptures presented here represent only a small selection from the overall offer of Jakšić Gallery. A broader selection of works by Dina Jakšić Pavasović, as well as by other artists, is available in our galleries in Split and on the island of Brač. These are spaces where contemporary art, stone, and a long tradition of stonemasonry intersect.
The sculptures of Dina Jakšić Pavasović are intended for collectors and lovers of contemporary art who seek an authentic, authorial work in stone. A work that goes beyond decoration and becomes a lasting part of a space and a personal story.
