Alongside our own artistic practice, we have collaborated over the years on numerous projects that bring together art, design, and the craftsmanship of Brač stone. Our work has included interior and public space design, the creation of artistic and architectural elements, as well as the development of bespoke products and original solutions tailored to specific spaces, occasions, and client requirements. Our commitment to quality, design excellence, and exceptional stone craftsmanship has been recognised by numerous partners and clients, some of whom are presented below.
DINA JAKŠIĆ PAVASOVIĆ’S DOCTORAL DISSERTATION
In 2015, Dr. art. Dina Jakšić Pavasović earned her doctorate at the Academy of Arts with the dissertation “On Dowry Through an Artistically Shaped Space.” The project explores the road connecting Donji Humac and Nerežišća and its transformation into an artistic landscape inspired by collective memory, tradition, and the customs of the island of Brač. As a result of the research, a series of 22 stone monograms was designed to be placed along the route. To date, the first element has been realised, while the remainder exists as a detailed 3D simulation, representing a unique fusion of contemporary art, landscape architecture, and cultural heritage.
STONE PLANTERS FOR THE PALM PROMENADE
The stone planters along the Sutivan waterfront are an original project by Dr. art. Dina Jakšić Pavasović, combining public space design, Brač stone, and the rich fishing heritage of the island. Each of the fifty planters is unique and dedicated to a specific Adriatic fish species, its habitat, and traditional fishing tools, turning the promenade into an educational journey through the world of the sea. Their forms, reliefs, and dimensions gradually change along the walkway, symbolically leading visitors from shallow waters towards the open sea.
VIEWPOINT IN STARA NOVALJA
The “Stara Novalja Fishing Grounds Viewpoint” is a project by architect Marija Mia Peranić and Dr. art. Dina Jakšić Pavasović that offers a contemporary interpretation of the fishing heritage of Stara Novalja. The central feature is a stone compass rose engraved with the names of traditional fishing grounds, while sculptural benches made of white Brač stone are positioned according to their directions. Inspired by the movement of the sea, the benches create a unique combination of public space, sculpture, and a resting place overlooking the sea, Rab Island, and the Velebit Channel.
“STAGNICA” SQUARE AND THE MAP OF DONJI HUMAC
The redesign of Stagnica Square in the centre of Donji Humac was conceived as a contemporary public space that respects local tradition and identity. Organic stone forms flow throughout the square, with a sculptural stone fountain as its focal point. The project also incorporates elements inspired by traditional games, while a large stone map of the village was installed at the nearby bus station as part of the “Mapping the Living Environment” workshop involving the children of Donji Humac.
CUSTOM- MADE PRODUCTS
The development of bespoke products is an important part of our work. Over the years, we have designed and produced numerous custom-made stone gifts, awards, and promotional items for companies, institutions, and special events. Our clients include Mall of Split, Brač film festival, MAC Cosmetics, SKF, Hajduk, the Brand Leader and Uvati Vitar events, the Faculty of Economics in Split, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and the culinary competition Biser Mora. Each product is developed as a unique design solution tailored to the client’s identity.
SPLIT CITY MUSEUM
For the Split City Museum, we designed a collection of original souvenirs inspired by Diocletian’s Palace and the rich cultural heritage of Split. The collection includes stone puzzles, decorative objects, jewellery, coasters, and other designer products crafted from Brač stone, combining tradition, education, and contemporary design.
VOI’SA FESTIVAL
Jakšić Gallery has supported the VOI’SA Festival since its beginnings. For this internationally recognised electronic music festival, we create special stone necklaces each year, presented to performers and participants. Over time, these have evolved into a unique collection inspired by the festival’s visual identity.
WORKSHOPS WITH CHILDREN OF BRAČ
Preserving the tradition of Brač stone craftsmanship is an important part of our mission. Through numerous educational workshops, children have the opportunity to learn about stone carving, develop creativity, and discover the cultural heritage of the island of Brač. Some workshops take place in our own studios, while others are organised in cooperation with schools, municipalities, and cultural institutions.
MARMOMAC 2014 – COLLABORATION WITH STJEPKO ROŠIN
At Marmomac, the world’s leading stone exhibition in Verona, we presented our collaboration with renowned Split designer Stjepko Rošin. His concepts were transformed into a collection of contemporary stone furniture displayed within a conceptual exhibition space that brought together architecture, design, and art.
MARMOMAC 2013 – 110 YEARS OF WORKING WITH STONE
Our first independent presentation at Marmomac celebrated 110 years of the Jakšić family’s work with stone. The exhibition space was conceived as a timeline tracing the development of the workshop from 1903 to the present day, showcasing significant projects, sculptures, and original products created throughout more than a century of craftsmanship.
MARMOMAC 2012 – THE STONE PROJECT
As part of the international “Stone Project”, funded by the European Union, we participated in the design and execution of an exhibition space presenting stone varieties from Dalmatia and Herzegovina. The project was showcased at Marmomac in Verona and promoted the rich stonemasonry tradition and natural stone resources of the region.
