In addition to independent work in the studio and performance, the author’s works often only participate in very interesting projects as partners or independently. Collaborations on these projects relate to our engagement in arranging the space, performing assigned works, or designing custom-made products for a specific occasion. Our values and capabilities have been recognized by many of our partners and clients, of which we single out just a few.
VOI’SA FESTIVAL
Voi’sa is an electronic music festival on the island of Brač. In 2019, it will be the tenth edition of the festival, which the Jakšić Gallery has been following from the very beginning. We unusually supported this great event. For all ten years, we have specially designed and made a VOI’SA stone necklace that the organizers give away to the performers and all their participants. Every year we have prepared new creations, the main designer of the Voi’s festival, Saša Pocrnić, contributed a lot to these creations with his fascinating illustrations.
DOCTORAL DISSERTATION DR.ART. DINE JAKŠIĆ PAVASOVIĆ
In 2015, our painter Dina Jakšić Pavasović received her doctorate on the topic “On dowry through an artistically designed space”. It is a road that connects two neighboring places (Donji Humac and Nerežišća) and an artistic intervention on the same. The topic of the paper is conditioned by field research of the collective memory of the road itself and folk customs that are slowly dying out. The current version refers to only one stone monogram out of 22 planned and the rest of the road exists only in the 3D simulation.
STAGNICA SQUARE AND MAP OF DONJI HUMAC
The square in the center of Donji Humac is completely designed and largely performed in our workshop. The round shape in stone permeates through the entire space, reaching very demanding levels during construction. One of the most representative of such elements is the stone fountain. An old stone table was retained in which drafts of old board games were intervened as trios. Which would encourage the younger generation of locals to socialize again in public areas and get acquainted with old customs. A large map of Donji Humac was made at the bus station during the workshop “Mapping of living space”. In our workrooms, the children of Donji Humac made the whole place out of stone themselves, including all public sights and private houses. The construction of the other side of the square is in progress.
CUSTOM MADE PRODUCTS
Products designed and made exclusively for the convenient needs of customers are often the case in our production. One of these was a gift to VIP guests at the grand opening of the Mall of Split. For this occasion, we designed a stone paper holder for them, the stone walls of which form the logo of the Mall of Split.
We made stylized stone lips for the employees of the well-known cosmetic company MAC Cosmetics during their visit to the island of Brač in cooperation with Idi & amp; See agency.
We designed and made stone figures that were given as gifts to employees of a large foreign company SKF (Swedish Ball Bearing Factory) at an expert meeting in Split. Given that their biggest innovation in the world of industry is the bearing – we have stylized, reduced, and transformed its shape into a human figure with raised hands to allude to the long-term success of the company.
We have also designed a very nice gift for our clients for the well-known Split agency Meridien Ten, whose main interest is directed towards adventurous cycling. The gift is a stone cube that contains a print of a cyclist (also a detail of their logo) and oblique holes as wheels for bicycles that simulate movement.
We also made medals for all participants of the very popular event in Sutivan “Uvati vitar”. The medal contained segments of the logo and carved in stone the shape of the island of Brač with the aim, ie with the completion of the line at the location of Sutivan.
These are just some of the examples of successful cooperation, other custom-made products are available as exhibits in our gallery on the island of Brac.
MARMOMACC (2014) AND COOPERATION WITH STJEPKO ROŠINA
One of our exhibitions at the world stone fair Marmomacc in Verona was the presentation of an excellent collaboration with the famous designer from Split, Stjepko Rošin. We transformed Stjepko’s designs and ideas into very interesting pieces of stone furniture. The concept of the exhibition space was an imaginary house accompanied by architectural drawings. Within the imaginary space, we presented Stjepko’s stone furniture and some elements from our gallery, such as a stone bench, a stone window, a sculpture, and a detail of the stone facade. Well-known architect and our friend Jerko Rošin helped us design the space and define the key details.
WORKSHOPS WITH BRAČ CHILDREN
We want to pass on our love for stone and the desire to preserve the Brač tradition of stone processing to children, so we have designed and organized various workshops for our Brač children. One part of the workshops took place in our small workrooms where the children were introduced to all the stone processing and had the opportunity to work on small machines. We were often invited as guests to workshops in which stone can be used for various interesting creations without mechanical shaping.
MARMOMACC (2013) AND CELEBRATION OF OUR 110 YEARS OF WORK
Our first solo exhibition at Marmomacca was a celebration of our 110 years of stonework. We defined the entire exhibition with only one stone line running through the entire space. The line had the function of a timeline starting in the year of its foundation – 1903. Its trajectory continues its course and turns into useful elements in the service of the exhibition as a pedestal for sculpture, chair, and counter, and our most famous works through 110 years of existence are inscribed throughout its surface. The presentation reached its peak with the appearance of a girl in a stone dress with a large bouquet of stone flowers. The girl gave a stone flower to visitors to Marmomacca.
MARMOMACC (2012) AND THE STONE PROJECT
During the exhibition at the world stone fair Marmomacc, we were invited to participate in the project “Stone Project” funded by European funds. Our role in the fair was the complete arrangement and execution of the space where the types of stone from the area of Dalmatia and Herzegovina are presented. The presentation part consisted of a map with the most important sites and a specimen of stone that turns into an arrow pointing to the point of the site.
Review
A review of the creation in the Jakšić stone was written by the famous architect Jerko Rošin, who for many years has been constantly monitoring the work of the family as a friend and as a business partner.
