For more than four decades, Ida Stipčić Jakšić has been active as an author and designer in the fields of fashion design, textile design, and artistic jewellery. She began her independent artistic career at an early age, holding her first solo exhibition at just 17 years old. Since 1973, she has continuously exhibited her work through both solo and group exhibitions.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has created numerous acclaimed fashion collections and authorial fashion shows, participating in major fashion events in Croatia and abroad, including Split, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Opatija, Pula, Mostar, and New York. A particularly important chapter of her career was her long-standing collaboration with renowned Croatian singer Josipa Lisac, who wore many of her creations over the years.
Born in Split in 1959, Ida graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Split, specialising in Decorative Arts, before studying Textile Design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her contributions to fashion and design.
Following her major retrospective exhibition held at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb in 2009, she gradually stepped away from the world of fashion design to dedicate herself to creating unique handcrafted jewellery. Today, working in the family workshop, she personally cuts and shapes semi-precious stones and creates distinctive jewellery pieces in silver, semi-precious stone, and coral, combining artistic expression, exceptional craftsmanship, and the natural beauty of carefully selected materials.
Exhibitions
A particularly important place in Ida’s artistic career is held by her long-standing collaboration with the distinguished Split-based artist Gorki Žuvela. Having followed her work from its very beginnings, Žuvela has designed numerous original and intriguing exhibition installations that further emphasised the authenticity and artistic strength of her collections and exhibitions.
