Ida Stipčić Jakšić has dedicated herself to independent authorial work and has been designing textiles and jewelry for more than four decades. Since 1973 she has been exhibiting independently and in group exhibitions. She had her first solo exhibition when she was less than 17 years old. During her forty years of work, she has organized many independent fashion shows and with many collections participated in numerous fashion shows and fashion events organized in Split, Zagreb, Mostar, Pula, Opatija, Dubrovnik, and New York. Josipa Lisac left a big mark in Ida’s fashion career, proudly wearing many of her creations. Ida is now intensively engaged in jewelry making in the family workshop where she’s processing semi-precious stones. After a retrospective exhibition of fashion design, held at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb in 2009, Ida gradually stopped working in fashion design and textile design and dedicated herself to making jewelry from silver, semi-precious stones, and coral.
She was born in Split in 1959. After graduating from the School of Applied Arts in Split, majoring in Decoration, she studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade – at the Department of Textiles.
Another significant collaboration of Ida is with the famous artist from Split, Gorki Žuvela. He accompanied her from the very beginning by designing unusual and intriguing layouts of Ida’s exhibitions.
