Our designer Ida Stipčić Jakšić took part in a very interesting and conceptually original exhibition titled “Artistic Feast”, held at the ULUPUH Gallery in Zagreb. The exhibition presented jewellery from the private collection of Lidija Kacin, a long-time collector and passionate admirer of unique author jewellery.
Lidija Kacin is known for her exceptional sensibility for contemporary jewellery design and for the collection she has been carefully building for many years. Her collection brings together works by numerous prominent authors of the Croatian contemporary scene and represents a cross-section of different approaches to jewellery design — from sculptural and experimental forms to subtle, elegant compositions. It is precisely this passion for author jewellery that inspired the exhibition, which introduces the public to the richness and diversity of her collection.
The exhibition was curated by Elizabeta Wagner, who conceived a display that interprets the idea of a “feast” in a witty and visually striking way. At the centre of the gallery stands a large table set like a festive dinner, complete with cutlery, candles, and decorative elements. Instead of food, however, the plates present works of art — pieces of jewellery carefully displayed under glass domes, like precious delicacies. Such a display creates an interesting parallel between gastronomy and art, inviting visitors to “taste” the form, material, and concept of each individual work.
The exhibition brought together many renowned jewellery designers, giving the audience the opportunity to see diverse artistic solutions, materials, and approaches to design that together create a rich and dynamic picture of contemporary author jewellery.
Within this exhibition, Lidija Kacin presented two works by Ida Stipčić Jakšić, both created as jewellery made of semi-precious stone and silver. The works include a brooch and a bracelet made of lapis lazuli and silver, materials that strongly emphasise the colour, texture, and natural structure of the stone.
The brooch is shaped through a free oval form in silver, which follows and highlights a large, intensely blue piece of lapis lazuli. The vibrant colour of the stone and its natural structure enter into a strong visual dialogue with the clean metal form, creating a harmonious yet highly expressive composition.
The second piece is a bracelet in which an irregular piece of deep blue lapis lazuli dominates the design. The silver structure discreetly holds the stone while simultaneously forming the construction of the bracelet, allowing it to be worn on the wrist. This combination of the raw character of natural stone and precisely shaped silver creates a striking piece of jewellery that balances between sculpture and wearable object.
Participation in this exhibition confirms the continuity of Ida Stipčić Jakšić’s work in the field of author jewellery made of semi-precious stone and silver, for which she is recognised on the Croatian art scene.
