We are proud to announce that Jakšić Gallery has been awarded the IQM Destination Certificate of Excellence, a recognition granted by IQM Destination and the Supetar Tourist Board to businesses and organisations that contribute to the quality of the tourism offer and the overall development of the destination. This valuable recognition confirms our long-standing commitment to promoting the island of Brač through art, culture, and tradition, helping to strengthen its reputation as an authentic and high-quality tourist destination.
IQM Destination (Integrated Quality Management) is an internationally recognised tourism quality management system that brings together tourist boards, hospitality providers, cultural institutions, local producers, accommodation providers, and other tourism stakeholders with the goal of continuously improving service quality. The project is based on education, cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the establishment of high standards that support the sustainable development of destinations. Special emphasis is placed on preserving local identity, cultural heritage, and authentic experiences that allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the places they visit.
For us at Jakšić Gallery, this recognition carries particular significance, as it acknowledges the work we have been developing on the island of Brač for decades. Our gallery and workshop in Donji Humac are a meeting point of art, tradition, and the exceptional Brač stone for which the island is renowned. Visitors have the opportunity to discover the centuries-old stonemasonry tradition of Brač, view sculptures, paintings, and artworks created by members of the Jakšić family, and learn how unique stone products are crafted in our workshop.
Over the years, we have sought to create a space that is more than just a gallery. It has become a cultural attraction where visitors from Croatia and around the world can experience the rich heritage of stone carving, explore contemporary art exhibitions, and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of Donji Humac, a village deeply connected to the history of stonemasonry. Such experiences contribute significantly to the development of cultural tourism on Brač and enrich the island’s overall tourism offer.
The IQM Destination project recognises precisely these values. Its purpose is not only to measure the quality of tourism services but also to strengthen the identity of a destination through cooperation, education, and the continuous improvement of standards. Culture, art, local production, and the preservation of tradition all play an important role in creating meaningful and authentic visitor experiences.
We would like to thank the IQM Destination team and the Supetar Tourist Board for this recognition, as well as for their dedicated efforts in continuously raising the quality of tourism on the island of Brač. We are especially pleased that they have recognised our commitment to preserving cultural heritage and promoting Brač stone, art, and local traditions.
This certificate serves as an additional motivation for us to continue developing Jakšić Gallery as a place where art, culture, and the authentic spirit of Brač come together, while contributing to the island’s reputation as one of the Adriatic’s most distinctive cultural and tourism destinations.
