In the news section of Jakšić gallery, we proudly highlight a unique artistic project – our painter Dina Jakšić Pavasović was honoured with the opportunity to paint a dress for one of the greatest divas of the Croatian music scene, Josipa Lisac. This special collaboration represents a fusion of art, design, and a long-standing creative connection.
The connection between Dina Jakšić Pavasović and Josipa Lisac dates back to Dina’s childhood. Dina’s mother, designer Ida Stipčić Jakšić, has collaborated with Josipa Lisac for many years as one of the key creators behind her iconic stage costumes. Over decades of collaboration, Ida has designed numerous extravagant and artistically powerful creations – using materials ranging from denim and leather to silicone, fishing nets, and even steel mesh – shaping a visual identity that has become inseparable from Josipa’s artistic expression and stage presence.
Over the years, Josipa closely followed Dina’s artistic development – from her early painting beginnings to the formation of a distinctive authorial style. It was precisely this long-standing relationship that led to the idea of collaboration on this special project – painting a dress for one of Josipa’s most important performances.
Each year, Josipa Lisac organises a concert in honour of her greatest love and life partner, the legendary musician Karlo Metikoš. This concert carries deep emotional and artistic significance, with every element – from music to visual identity – carefully conceived. For Josipa, a stage performance is not merely a concert, but a complete artistic experience in which every detail holds meaning.
This year, a key part of that unique stage expression became the painted dress by Dina Jakšić Pavasović. The dress is conceived as a large black cloak serving as a painter’s canvas, upon which Dina develops her visual language. Dynamic brushstrokes, layered colours, and bold chromatic accents create the impression of a moving painting – an artwork that lives and transforms in motion on stage.
This project stands as an exceptional example of the fusion of contemporary art, fashion design, and stage expression, while also continuing the long tradition of creative collaboration between the Jakšić family and leading artists. It further confirms that the art of Jakšić gallery extends beyond the gallery space – onto major stages and into direct dialogue with audiences.
The painted dress for Josipa Lisac is yet another testament to how art, design, and heritage can merge into a powerful and authentic artistic experience.
