It’s always busy in our workshop: something is constantly being drawn, cut, sanded and glued. As a result of the tireless hand gestures of our designer Ida, a new series of Larimar jewelry was created. The semi-precious stone Larimar, apart from irresistibly reminding us of the sea and the ocean, is also interesting because it is found in only one place in the world, a relatively inaccessible mountain area near the town of Barahona in the Dominican Republic. It was discovered by the Dominican jeweler Miguel Mendez in 1974 and named after his daughter Larissa and the color of the Caribbean Sea. Although our designer Ida prefers making large and striking jewelry, this series of Larimar jewelry is small in size. Small but perfect “ring delicacy” are here to complete the everyday outfit. She had a different approach when making necklace and bracelet, where she uses sharper lines and larger sculptural jewelry forms, ideal for more festive occasions.
