Our artists, academic sculptor Lovre Jakšić and academic painter Dr Dina Jakšić Pavasović, took part in the two-day evening festival of contemporary art, Art Night Milna, held in the picturesque setting of Milna on the island of Brač.
Art Night Milna brings together artists from different countries and artistic disciplines, creating a unique platform for contemporary art, cultural exchange, and international collaboration. This year’s edition welcomed artists from Croatia, Austria, Hungary, and Ukraine, offering visitors a rich programme of exhibitions, performances, and cultural events.
Lovre Jakšić, an academic sculptor renowned for his stone sculptures, public monuments, and stone portraits, presented a selection of works from his artistic oeuvre, rooted in the long tradition of Brač stone craftsmanship and expressed through a contemporary sculptural language. His sculptures can be found in both public and private collections throughout Croatia and abroad.
Dina Jakšić Pavasović, an academic painter and Doctor of Arts, presented works distinguished by their recognisable abstract expression. Her paintings are characterised by powerful colour relationships, an exploration of materials, and a strong connection to the Mediterranean landscape and the cultural heritage of the island of Brač.
The festival’s unique atmosphere was enhanced by an open-air exhibition set within the historic stone streets of Milna. The artistic programme was further enriched by live jazz music, video projections, fine wines, and a striking fire performance held at the Olife Hotel.
The organiser and sponsor of Art Night Milna is Austrian entrepreneur Arian Salehnyja, owner of the Olife Hotel, together with his team. We would like to thank the organisers for their invitation, hospitality, and excellent organisation of this distinctive event, which successfully brings together contemporary art, cultural tourism, and international artistic cooperation.
