Our modular candlestick among ZGDW AWARD finalists
We are proud that our modular candlestick has entered the finals of the annual international prestigious design award “ZGDW AWARD” in the product design category. The candlestick and other finalists will be presented to the public from September 1 to 6 at Zagreb Design Week, followed by the announcement of the winners by a committee of experts. Our, already awarded, modular candlestick “REFLEXIO” consists of six elements made of white Brač stone connected by metal components. Internal metal rods allow the candlestick to be folded and its final appearance to be changed. Assembled, in a simple geometric shape, the candlestick contains three candles, but its gradual dissolution reveals new surfaces with new candles. The final phase, of a completely disassembled candlestick, has a total of seven candle slots and is transformed from its basic shape into a larger, richer, irregular and free form in space. The guiding thought of the author, when creating this product, was an interactive factor that allows the user to create the final look of the candlestick depending on the desire or need and the possibility of constant change, or non-permanence of the product. In addition to the modular interactive factor, modernity and departure from classic and traditional candlesticks adds playfulness of cold and heavy material – stone, in a space where it acts light and scattered and never boring and static, in fact attracts us to dissolve it and try its many variants.
