Since the very beginning of Jakšić Gallery, we have strived to combine the beauty of Brač stone, functionality, and contemporary design. It was from this idea that our stone calendar was born—one of the most recognisable and best-selling products from our workshop. Over the years, it has become much more than a practical object; it has evolved into a small design piece that brings a touch of Mediterranean character and tradition into any space.
We began producing stone calendars in 2017 with the idea of creating a perpetual calendar made from Brač stone—one that would not be tied to a single year but would endure for decades through its functionality and timeless aesthetic. From the very first models, they attracted the attention of design enthusiasts, architects, and admirers of natural materials. Their minimalist appearance, precise craftsmanship, and unique stone textures demonstrated that functional objects can also serve as decorative elements within an interior.
The first versions of our calendars highlighted the richness and diversity of Brač stone. Each stone plate was crafted from different varieties of stone, allowing us to showcase a colourful palette of patterns and natural structures formed over millions of years. The calendars featured a random combination of Veselje, also known as “Brač marble”, and elegant grey Arborio stone, while the month of February was visually distinguished by dark grey Rasotica, creating an interesting visual contrast.
As we enjoy exploring new possibilities and setting ourselves creative challenges, each new generation of calendars has brought certain improvements. Formats, proportions, typography, and the way the months were displayed have evolved over time, yet the core idea has remained unchanged—to create a unique stone calendar that would last for years and become a distinctive feature in every home or office.
The latest version represents a significant step forward in both design and functionality. The calendar is crafted from white Brač stone, and each stone plate contains two months. The plates can be easily removed from the holder and returned once the months have passed, creating an elegant and intuitive user experience. Its larger dimensions further emphasise the natural beauty of the stone while improving readability.
What makes our stone calendars truly special is the fact that each piece carries its own unique structure and texture. Due to the natural characteristics of the material, no two products are ever completely identical, making every calendar a small original work of craftsmanship. This is precisely why they are often chosen as luxury corporate gifts, gifts for architects, gifts for design lovers, and as a lasting reminder of Brač Island and its centuries-old stonemasonry tradition.
