The Christmas season brings a special atmosphere. It brings warmth to the home, moments of togetherness, and carefully chosen gifts. It is a time when the spaces we live in gain a new softness and symbolism. At Jakšić Gallery, each year during this period, we present new works and products that reflect this feeling. This year, in our workshop, we have once again prepared something special. We present a new product – the stone deer.
The stone deer is conceived as a small stone figurine with a clear emphasis on form and line. During the design process, its silhouette was carefully stylised. Special attention was given to the antlers. They are the most dynamic and visually distinctive part of the figure. The antlers are shaped as a playful rhythm of lines, yet always with clear control of the form. The overall shape is balanced to ensure the stability of the stone and long-lasting durability without the risk of breaking.
The drawing of the deer is original and was developed specifically for execution in stone. Every cut, transition, and curve is adapted to the material. The figurine is made of white Brač stone, renowned for its strength, fine structure, and natural elegance. The surface of the stone is left natural and pleasant to the touch. The texture of the stone further emphasises authenticity and a strong connection to the local environment.
The stone deer is 15 centimetres high. This places it in the category of smaller figurines that are easy to incorporate into any interior. It can be placed on a shelf, a sideboard, a desk, or a festive table. Thanks to its stylised form, it fits well into contemporary, minimalist spaces as well as more traditional interiors. It is not limited to the festive season alone. As a decorative object, it remains relevant throughout the entire year.
Last year, we designed three types of stone Christmas trees. The stone deer is a natural continuation of this idea. Together, they form a harmonious whole. The stone trees and the stone deer complement each other in form, proportions, and material. Displayed together, they create a subtle yet strong festive composition in stone, free from excessive decoration and passing trends.
