

German television ARTE.tv published a report on the Brač stone – “White Gold of the island of Brač”, which was filmed last summer at various locations around the island. The Jakšić family is one of the main protagonists of the film, so our studios, workshops, galleries and all our activities went through 7 days of intensive filming. The film follows the beginning of the professional development of a young student of the School of Masonry in Pučišća, Vanessa. A student from her formal craft education comes to our stonemason’s workshop, under the mentorship of Dražen Jakšić, to learn about advanced techniques and tools and to witness the art that is created from stone in our studios. Through the script of the feature film, the story of Brač stone is told and all segments of education and industry related to stone on Brač and various possibilities of its use and processing are shown. Both are shown and parts of the process of making sculpture Lawrence Jaksic and Dine Jakšić Pavasović as examples of artistic practice.
