With the introduction of new technological capabilities in our stonemasonry workshop, new opportunities have emerged for exploring forms, details, and artistic interventions in stone. The result is “Trace in Stone”, a collection of functional objects crafted from Brač stone, combining contemporary design, artistic expression, and the centuries-old stonemasonry tradition of the island of Brač.
The collection was created from a desire to present stone not only as a construction or decorative material, but also as a medium for contemporary artistic expression. Thanks to advanced cutting and engraving techniques, it is now possible to achieve highly precise shapes, reliefs, and drawings permanently carved into stone. This is precisely why the collection bears the name “Trace in Stone” – every incision, line, and relief becomes a lasting trace of an artistic idea.
The collection includes a variety of stone vases, bowls, and decorative functional objects. One of the most striking pieces is a sculptural vase composed of four interconnected elements. Its geometric openings create an intriguing play of light and shadow, giving the object an almost architectural character. Viewed from different angles, it constantly changes its appearance, functioning simultaneously as a practical object and a small stone sculpture.
Another group of works consists of elegant square vases in various sizes. Their surfaces are decorated with precisely engraved linear motifs that resemble drawings carved into stone. The minimalist forms emphasize the natural beauty of Brač limestone, while their simplicity allows them to blend seamlessly into contemporary interiors, luxury villas, apartments, hotels, and business spaces.
Particularly eye-catching are the models adorned with circular relief patterns. These delicate three-dimensional forms evoke the appearance of droplets or smooth sea pebbles floating across the stone surface. Inspired by nature and the Mediterranean landscape, these vases bring a sense of movement and softness to the solid stone volume.
In addition to the vases, the collection also includes smaller decorative stone panels featuring organic relief compositions. These pieces can serve as decorative accents, coasters, or independent artistic objects that enrich and define a space.
All items in the collection are unique stone products, meaning that no two pieces are exactly alike. This makes them an excellent choice for anyone seeking an original and lasting gift. They are ideal as a housewarming gift, wedding gift, anniversary gift, corporate gift, or as a luxurious decorative element for the home.
In addition to the “Trace in Stone” collection, Jakšić Gallery offers a wide range of other stone products in its galleries on the island of Brač and in Split. The selection includes bowls, vases, serving trays, sculptures, decorative objects, and personalised stone gifts for special occasions. Every piece is crafted from premium Brač stone and reflects a distinctive blend of tradition, design, and artistry.
The “Trace in Stone” collection demonstrates how contemporary design can bring new life to one of nature’s most noble materials. These are not merely functional objects but enduring works of art that leave their mark on a space—just as their traces are permanently inscribed in stone.
